high imide methyl etherified melamine resin
high imide melatherized melamine resin is a partially methoxyated and highly alkylated melamine resin, which makes it contain a large amount of alkoxy/imide groups or high NH functional groups in its structure. Its advantages are that it can be cured quickly at 120-150°C without adding acid catalysts, fast curing in water-based systems, high paint hardness, and low formaldehyde release during curing. In addition, they can react with functional polymers containing hydroxy, carboxyl and amide groups, but these resins are also prone to self-condensation reactions, and their effective equivalents are usually 180-240. The stability of the formulation can be increased by adding tertiary amines and primary alcohol solvents. When used in solvent-based coating systems, compared with the corresponding highly alkylated etherified resins, the curing film of imine resin has relatively poor flexibility and high VOC content.
partial melamine resin
partially melanylated melamine resins are highly methoxylated or partially alkylated resins that achieve satisfactory curing results at 120-150°C without the need for external reinforcing acid catalysts. In thermosetting coating systems, most polymers are acidic enough to catalyze reactions, and the properties of the paint film are similar to those of high imide resins. In addition, they can react with functional polymers containing hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups, and amide groups, but these resins are also prone to self-condensation reactions, and their effective equivalents are also 180-240. Like all melamine resins, they can also be added to the formulation by adding amine and alcohol solvents. The larger limitation of these products is the high formaldehyde release during baking, mainly due to the high free methoxy content.
